ICCVAM and NICEATM Hold Meeting on Endocrine Disruptor Test Method

The Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM) along with the National Toxicology Program Interagency Center for the Evaluation of Alternative Toxicological Methods (NICEATM), will hold a peer review meeting on March 29-30, 2011, for an in vitro test method that determines if chemicals are endocrine disruptors.

ICCVAM and NICEATM are holding an independent, scientific peer review panel to evaluate the validation status of Lemi-Cell ER (BG1Luc ER TA), an in vitro transcriptional activation (TA) assay used to identify chemicals that can interact with human estrogen receptors (ERs). This test method may be applicable for addressing the ER TA component of the Environmental Protection Agency Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program Tier 1 screening battery.

The panel meeting, which will be held at the William H. Natcher Conference Center at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., USA, is free for the public. Those who wish you attend the meeting should register online by March 15, 2011.

In addition, public comments are invited on a draft background review document and ICCVAM draft test method recommendations, which will be reviewed by the panel. Comments on the documents should be submitted to NICEATM by March 10, 2011. NICEATM will post all comments on the NICEATM-ICCVAM Web site identified by the individual's name and affiliation or sponsoring organization (if applicable).
