Ligand inhibitors of the RAR receptors, process for preparing same and therapeutic/cosmetic applications thereof
Novel biaryl compounds having the structural formula specified in the patent are useful in cosmetics and in a variety of human or veterinary pharmaceutical applications. In cosmetics, the specified compounds are useful in body and hair hygiene and especially for treating acne-prone skin, for promoting regrowth of the hair or for limiting hair loss, for combating the greasy appearance of the skin or the hair, for protection against the harmful aspects of sunlight or for the treatment of physiologically dry skin, and for preventing and/or combating photoinduced or chronological aging.

Inverse lattices of copolymers of AMPS and of N,N-dimethylacrylamide; cosmetic use
Disclosed are compositions including an oil phase, an aqueous phase, at least one emulsifying system of water-in-oil (w/o) type, optionally at least one emulsifying system of oil-in-water (o/w) type. These components are in the form of an inverse latex including 20–70% by mass and preferably from 25–50% by mass of a branched or cross-linked polyelectrolyte. The polyelectrolyte is a copolymer of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid partially or totally salified with N,N-dimethylacrylamide and optionally one or more monomers chosen from monomers containing a partially or totally salified weak acid function and neutral monomers. These inverse latexes can be used as thickeners and/or emulsifiers for skin care and hair care products or for the manufacture of cosmetic, dermocosmetic, dermopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical preparations.

Two-phase composition and its uses in cosmetics
Disclosed is a composition having two separate phases, one above the other. The composition contains a bottom aqueous phase, a top o/w emulsion, and at least one anionic surfactant chosen from the sodium salts of esters of dimethicone copolyol and sulfosuccinic acid. The two-phase composition is very soft and fresh upon application, while having good efficacy. Also disclosed is the use of this composition in cosmetics, especially for removing makeup from, cleansing and/or caring for the skin, the lips and/or the eyes, or for hair care.

BASF AG
Cosmetic agent containing at least one copolymer having N-vinyllactam units
Disclosed is a cosmetic composition that contains at least one copolymer obtainable by two-stage free radical copolymerization of at least one N-vinyllactam. The composition also contains at least one anionogenic monomer and at least one further monomer different from the anionogenic monomer. Finally, the composition also contains a water-soluble polymer component that essentially does not contain any carbon-carbon double bonds. These compositions are intended to provide good performance properties; they should impart a pleasant feel when applied to hair or skin, while at the same time having a good conditioning action or setting action. Preferably, they should be suitable for the preparation of products in the form of gels.

Acid fungal proteases
The present invention is directed to novel acid proteases and more specifically to NSP24 family proteases and NSP25 family proteases including biologically active fragments thereof and to nucleic acid molecules encoding those proteases. Also provided are vectors and host cells including nucleic acid sequences coding for the proteases, methods for producing the proteases, enzyme compositions and methods employing said proteases. In some embodiments, once the proteases described herein have been synthesized and purified, an effective amount is added to personal care composition(s) for the hair, skin or nails. Thus, the enzyme or enzyme preparation may be used, for example, in solutions for cleaning contact lenses, toothpaste, cosmetics and skin care products.
