Similar to the previous concern over the safety of hydroquinone—and the subsequent R&D focus on developing new skin whitening materials, this concern surrounding oral isotretinoin could fuel the development of additional topical isotretinoin materials or other topical treatments for severe acne. The answer could lie in ingredients already in development, or perhaps via the means of delivering an existing ingredient.
