The University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy has announced that it now offers what is believed to be the first online graduate cosmetics program.
"Most people working in the cosmetics industry have their undergraduate degree in either chemistry or biology," said Randy Wickett, Ph.D., professor and director of the cosmetic science program. "They haven't had any specific training on how to formulate and measure the effects of products on the skin and hair."
Students enrolled in the cosmetic science program at UC need only travel to the campus twice for about two day during their training, according to a university press release. The college offers both a master's of science and a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences with an emphasis in cosmetic science. Only the master's program, however, will be offered online.
