SCC Requests Scale-up, Nanotechnology, Claims Support Submissions

The Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) has announced a call for podium presentation papers for the Dec. 12-13, 2013, Annual Scientific Meeting and Technology Showcase.

“The [Committee on Scientific Affairs] COSA Committee has selected specific topics of interest for submission, but any topic is acceptable that relates to cosmetic science,” wrote Bill Cowen, executive director of the SCC. Selected topics include: recent advances in processing and scale-up technology; nanotechnology controversies; evolving regulatory issues; how to achieve, create and accomplish beauty; new technologies for claims support/measurements; and anti-aging formulas for perceivable benefits.

New for 2013, abstracts no more than 150 words in length must be submitted online. The QR Code provided in mailers sent to the membership also links users to the submission page.

“You can use your smart phone or tablet as long as you have the QR Reader installed on your device,” said Cowen, who re-iterated “The deadline for submission is May 1, 2013.”

After acceptance by the COSA committee, presenters will be required to submit preprints, including a minimum of 600 words at a maximum of two pages, including figures, 12 weeks prior to the presentation; note that presenters are required to register for the meeting. All presenters also will be eligible for the Shaw Mudge Award, sponsored by BASF Corp., which is given for the Best Paper presented at the SCC’s Annual Meeting. The honorarium for this award is $2,500.

Separately, a call for abstracts for participation in the 2013 Technology Showcase poster session will be issued in July 2013 with a September 15 deadline. For more information, visit the SCC website.
