CoQ10 Emerges as the New Beauty Antioxidant

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), noted for its strong antioxidant properties, rapidly is becoming a more popular antiaging ingredient in skin care. CoQ10 has traditionally been used as a supplement to improve several health conditions, as well as boost energy levels and benefit the heart/immune system. General awareness of the ingredient has increased with the rising number of skin care products that tout its use. The Mintel Global New Products Database (GNPD) explores an increasing number of new products featuring CoQ10 that are being launched around the world. The new launches are predicted to rise, especially as other groups get to know the newer-known wrinkle fighter.

In Poland, Oceanic has introduced AA Dilated Capilaries Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream with SPF 6 rating for sensitive skin with fragile capillaries problems. The cream contains escin, hesperidine, methyl chalcone and coenzyme Q10. The manufacturer claims that it reduces reddening of the skin, provides smoothing and elasticizing effects, and reduces wrinkles. The user’s skin smoothness should be improved by 12% after the first use of the cream, according to the manufacturer.

Germany has seen the launch of Lidl Stiftung Cien Beauty Hauststraffend Body Lotion. This skin-firming lotion contains coenzyme Q10 and cocoa butter. It is said to leave the skin feeling smooth and firm.

Juice Beauty, retailing in the United States, is a well-known natural brand that uses certified organic ingredients. The company has introduced a new Nutrient Eye Cream in their Organic Green Apple collection, which contains DMAE, vitamin antioxidants, alpha lipoic acid, coenzyme Q10 and essential nutrients and peptides. The Organic Green Apple Collection is formulated to treat aging and problem skin with powerful boosters that claim to help refine, rejuvenate and firm for more radiant, ageless skin.

Another product recently launched in the United States is the Skinvitals Q-Lift Firming Nourishing Anti-Wrinkle Cloth Facial Treatment Mask. This convenient, easy-to-use mask is formulated with coenzyme Q10 and soy protein. The mask is designed to diminish fine lines and loss of firmness.

Enprani’s Daysys Coenzyme Q10 Cream and Daysys Coenzyme Q10 Essences can now be found on shelves in South Korea. Both products are formulated for all skin types and they further illustrate the increasing popularity of the ingredient.

Coenzyme Q10 is even being used in an increasing number of men’s products. Nivea for Men Revitalizing Q10 Cream has launched in Argentina. It is formulated with coenzyme Q10, provitamin B5, vitamin E and UVA/UVB solar filters. This product was created to fight the negative effects of sun exposure, as well as reduce wrinkles.

It also appears that coenzyme Q10 is not simply being used exclusively for skin care products. Firming and antiaging properties are being applied to lip care. Nivea has introduced Nivea Lip Care Q10 Plus Lip Effect in Canada. The formula consists of coenzyme Q10, soybean oil, calendula oil and shea butter.
