Conditioning Base for Hair Care Formulating Ease
Posted: May 18, 2011
Inolex has combined a fatty alcohol with an amidoamine, a neutralizing agent and a chelating agent to create a conditioning base for hair care that is designed for performance and ease of formulation. Kerabase LC (INCI: Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Brassicamidopropyl Dimethylamine (and) Aspartic Acid (and) EDTA) can be combined with water and an emollient reportedly to create conditioning formulations at a low cost.
While the amidoamine in the formulation (brassicamidopropyl dimethylamine) is said to provide aesthetics and conditioning performance in the blend, amodoamine conditioners avoid the irritation and environmental problems often associated with quats. Minor ingredients such as actives, fragrance and preservatives may also be added, as desired.
Conditioners developed using the blend reportedly can be made in one vessel; in addition, the blend is pre-neutralized. According to the company, the blend improves combability and detangling performance, compared with commercial conditioning formulas.
