Inolex has launched a range of 100% natural and sustainable emollients using bio-based succinic acid from BioAmber. The LexFeel N Series (INCI: Diheptyl Succinate (and) Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer) are suitable as alternatives to silicone fluids such as dimethicone and cyclomethicone for improving skin feel, as well as enhancing shine and texture in hair care products.
The range is comprised of six emollients, which differ in viscosity, including: LexFeel N5, an alternative to cyclomethicone; LexFeel N20, an alternative to 20 cSt dimethicone; LexFeel N50, an alternative to 50 cSt dimethicone; LexFeel N100, an alternative to 100 cSt dimethicone; LexFeel N200, an alternative to 200 cSt dimethicone; and LexFeel N350, an alternative to 350 cSt dimethicone.
These succinate emollients have the highly appealing and differentiated sensory feel of silicone fluids, including feeling silky, powdery, light, dry and nongreasy to the touch. This sensory experience meets the modern consumer’s hygiene and beauty needs, giving the clean, dry and natural feeling consumers want from their personal care routine.
The succinate emollients are highly versatile because of their sensory properties and ability to disperse pigments. These fluids can be used in skin care, hair care, color and antiperspirant products to provide shine and a light fast-drying emolliency.
In addition to being 100% natural and sustainable, the emollients are readily biodegradable, non-GMO and eco-certified. In natural formulations, they can be used to reduce the greasiness of natural oils.
