Abstract: Dow Corning has launched its ES-5600 Silicone Glycerol Emulsifier, a water-in-oil emulsifier with diglycerol hydrophilic functionality that enables exceptional performance in polyethylene glycol (PEG)-free systems.

Dow Corning has launched its ES-5600 Silicone Glycerol Emulsifier (INCI: Cetyl Diglyceryl Tris(Trimethylsiloxy)silylethyl Dimethicone), a water-in-oil emulsifier with diglycerol hydrophilic functionality that provides exceptional performance in polyethylene glycol (PEG)-free systems. The ingredient imparts high dispersion capabilities for color intensity and evenness of tone, and creates emulsions with small particle size for liquid foundations, color cosmetics and sun care. It also delivers good oil phase flexibility to meet increasing customer demand for improved sensory benefits, such as smooth texture, comfortable wear and low odor.

The ingredient is a highly effective dispersant for pigments and fine particles and offers homogeneity and stability even at high temperatures. Cosmetics manufacturers will benefit from its unique color intensity, uniform coverage for evenness of skin tone and enhanced sunscreen sensory performance, including easier spreadability, and less whitening and tackiness than other products.
