Centerchem Innovates with Botanical Anti-wrinkle agent
Posted: January 8, 2007
A novel invention from Centerchem Inc. behaves as a sustained release delivery system, reports the company, by sequentially releasing a marine-derived pentasaccharide (MPS) fraction to act as an anti-wrinkle agent.
Homeostatine (INCI: Water (aqua) (and) glycerin (and) Enteromorpha compressa extract (and) Caesalpinia spinosa gum) is a hydrocolloidal matrix composed of galactomannans of Andean origin, derived from the seeds of Caesalpinia spinosa (Mol.) O. Kuntz, in addition to an MPS fraction. This fraction, derived from the algae Enteromorpha compressa (L) Nees, is said to help restore and maintain homeostasis in the dermal extracellular matrix.
According to the company, the constituents of this product help to prevent and/or fight the formation of skin wrinkles by stimulating fibroblast metabolism and strongly inhibiting IL-1alpha induced stimulation of fibroblasts. The product's galactomannans reportedly are high molecular weight and form a smooth, aesthetic film on the stratum corneum.
In vitro tests have shown the product to increase the synthesis of collagens I and III, and in vivo research revealed a decrease in wrinkle size and depth, average roughness and increased skin thickness.
