Evonik Personal Care has rolled out several new product offerings in both leave-on and rinse-off categories. For leave-on products, the new TEGO Feel Green (Proposed INCI: Cellulose) and TEGOLON ECO 10-10 (INCI: Nylon-10) were developed, both from natural sources. TEGO Feel Green is a sensory additive based entirely on unmodified natural cellulose particles from renewable sources. The odorless, soft white powder provides a homogenous texture in and distribution of formulations. It also is designed to absorb quickly and leave a drier after-feel with reduced tackiness. TEGOLON ECO 10-10 consists of polyamide particles that are based on renewable sources—in this case, on Nylon-10,10, an AA-BB polyamide that is made in a polycondensation process from sebacic acid and decamethylene diamine. Both materials are derived from castor oil and are therefore fully vegetable-based. A life-cycle assessment has confirmed that the product’s carbon footprint is significantly lower than petrochemically based nylon materials.
For rinse-off applications, the company has launched ABIL ME 45 (Proposed INCI: Silicone Quaternium-22 (and) Polyglyceryl-3 Caprate (and) Dipropylene Glycol (and) Cocamidopropyl Betaine), a multi-benefit silicone conditioning agent; ABIL Soft AF 300 (Proposed INCI: Aminopropyl Dimethicone), a high-performance aminopropyl dimethicone; and TEGO Carbomer 750 HD (INCI: Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer), a cross-linked polyacrylic acid copolymer.
ABIL ME 45 is designed to be an easy-to-use, PEG- and preservative-free microemulsion with excellent conditioning and manageability properties for hair. This ingredient significantly improves the wash fastness of dyed hair and shows outstanding heat protecting properties. ABIL Soft AF 300 is a new high molecular weight aminosilicone for conditioning rinses that improves the conditioning and softening properties to hair care products. Finally, TEGO Carbomer 750 HD is a copolymer manufactured in a solvent system having very low toxic potential. The high density powder disperses well in water and features a fast processing time. Further, due to its high electrolyte tolerance and good suspending properties, the product is well-suited for surfactant systems and clear gels.
