According to the patent, the compositions can have an sun protection factor of 2-15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 or more, or any integer or derivative therein, and can be sunscreen lotions, sprays or creams, among others.

Disclosed in the present patent is an oral preventive or therapeutic agent for skin damage containing diacylglyceryl ether as an active ingredient. To protect skin from UV rays, many external cosmetics and sunscreen agents have been conventionally developed. However, according the inventors, it has been indicated that the long-term use of these chemical substances or metals may have adverse effects, for example, by stimulating skin. Accordingly, a safe and secure means and/or method for protecting skin from UV damage is desired.

Thus, one objective of the present invention is to provide a safe and secure means and/or method for protecting skin from damage due to UV rays. As a result of intensive studies, the present inventors have discovered that skin damage such as the formation of wrinkled skin and/or sagging skin due to UV rays, the formation of skin cancer, or the formation of pigmented spots and/or freckles can be safely prevented or treated by oral dosage of diacylglyceryl ether.

Process for isolation of monophenolic bisaryl triazines

This invention relates to a novel, efficient, economic and general-purpose process for isolating monophenolic-bisaryl triazine compounds from polyphenolic-triazines compounds and other impurities. More specifically, the process involves isolating the monophenolic-bisaryl triazine by contacting it with an inorganic base and optionally, a hydrocarbon solvent. According to the inventors, such a method is valuable and desirable in the field of triazine UV absorbers to isolate monophenolic-bisaryl triazine that is free from the polyphenolic- or polyresorcinol-triazine impurities resulting from the synthesis process without the need for re-crystallization. Some of the advantages of the disclosed method are reportedly its efficient and economic nature.

The present invention also is said to eliminate the need for purifying and isolating the intermediate 2-chloro-4,6-bisaryl-1,3,5-triazine from the first Friedel-Crafts reaction of aromatics with cyanuric chloride regardless of its selectivity, and allows to do the second Friedel-Crafts reaction with phenols, such as resorcinol, in a one-pot process to make monophenol-bisaryl-triazines. 

Method of making compositions comprising multiple layers

This invention describes a method of making a layered personal care composition comprising the steps of: a) providing a first layer and a second layer that each are fluid at elevated temperature, solid at ambient temperature, and visually distinctive from each other; b) providing the first and second layers in fluid state at an elevated temperature in isolated vessels; c) separately dispensing the first layer by a first nozzle and the second layer by a second nozzle while maintaining the elevated temperature, into a same package having a circle plan view shape—wherein the positions of the nozzles, relative to the center of the package, are maintained during dispensing, and wherein the middle point of the nozzles do not coincide with the Z axis running vertically through the center of the package; and d) cooling the dispensed composition for solidifying in the package.

By providing multiple layers of compositions in the same package, a visually attractive product is produced. The present invention is suitable for any personal care composition that is fluid in elevated temperatures and solid at ambient temperatures, such as cosmetic foundation, sunscreen, blusher, eye shadow, eyebrow cake, mascara cake, lipstick, lip balm, antiperspirant stick, dermal pharmaceutical ointment, hair styling/conditioning wax, and others.
