Israel Manufacturers Association Creates Label for Dead Sea Products

The Israel Manufacturers Association has developed a quality label for skin care products that are formulated with ingredients from the Dead Sea. According to the association, the label was created to differentiate genuine Dead Sea products from those that have been pirated.

Manufacturers Dead Sea mud, lotions, creams and spa products are required to prove that the source of a their product is actually the Dead Sea and not another body of water. In addition, they must verify that that the product contains an appropriate concentration of minerals from the lowest sea in the world.

The main criterion for the label is the Dead Sea mineral content, which must be present at a significant concentration in the product. Bath salts or mud must contain almost 100% Dead Sea material, while skin products for sensitive areas such as the face and eyes require low concentrations.

The Israel Manufacturers' Association will not grant the label to companies who do not meet the criteria.

The label and other topics were discussed by manufacturers of Dead Sea skin care at Rejuvenate with Dead Sea: Bath and Body Products from Israel, which will take place on Oct. 28-29, 2009 in New York. The event has been organized by The Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute and the Israel Manufacturers' Association with the help of the Israel Economic Mission in New York and gives manufacturers the opportunity to meet with buyers and major chains.
