Vladimir Badmaev, PhD, MD, has accepted a joint appointment as director of scientific and medical affairs for Polifenoles Naturales and P.L. Thomas (PLT). In this newly-established position, Badmaev will lead the new ingredient pipeline development of the strategic alliance between the two companies and of other PLT initiatives.
Before accepting this appointment, Badmaev spent 15 years at Sabinsa, where he contributed to the company’s emergence as a an innovator of science-based ingredients for the dietary supplement and pharmaceutical industries. Badmaev is the author/coauthor of over 70 scientific and popular scientific articles, 13 books, 13 US and international patents and nine successful IND applications with the US Food and Drug Administration.
Badmaev was the 2009 recipient of the Thomas Alva Edison Award for his invention of the international patent “Bioavailable composition of natural and synthetic HCA”. He published a book on Tibetan medicine entitled Healing Herbs describing efforts of five generations of physicians in his family in bringing Tibetan medicine and the derived pharmaceutical products to the West.
