SCC Loses Lifelong Member

Industry veteran Chester F. "Chet" Moculeski passed away at 91. Moculeski, a retired chemist, was the former co-owner of Clintwood Chemical Co., a personal care chemical company.

Moculeski received a bachelor's degree in 1939 in chemistry from the University of Chicago. He, then, worked as a chemist for Rohm and Haas Co. Moculeski transferred to the company's Philadelphia office, where he worked in market development. In 1960 he joined Clintwood Chemical Co., just four blocks from where he grew up. There, he worked in the lab and eventually became a partner.

Moculeski was a lifelong member of the American Chemical Society and the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. He was also a Democratic precinct committeeman for 46 years, serving a 2-year term as chairman of the Downers Grove Township Democratic Organization.

He retired at age 72 to focus on traveling and his love for photography. Moculeski co-founded SeniorNet, a non-profit, volunteer organization of tech-savvy seniors who teach other seniors how to use computers.
