The International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) has announced Asociación Peruana de Química Cosmética (the Peruvian Association of Cosmetic Chemists) as the 2017 Lester Conrad Education Prize winner.

This prize is exclusive as only societies based in countries with a relatively low average income are eligible to apply. The award money of 8,000 Swiss Franc pays for a three-year educational program, which the Peruvian Society plans on proposing for 2018, 2019 and 2020 and will include a series of international speakers.

Carmina Casas, chair of the Lester Conrad Education Prize and IFSCC honorary secretary represents the Spanish Society (Sociedad Española de Químicos Cosméticos) of Madrid on the IFSCC Praesidium and further went into the details of the Lester Conrad Education Prize.

“The Lester Conrad Education Prize is awarded to a society that is already doing well, to give them the means to do even better,” explained Casas. “As a recipient of our 2016 Ecaterina Merica Cosmetic Education Programme, the Peruvian Society proved to us that they were serious about providing meaningful educational programs to their members. We are delighted that they won the 2017 Lester Conrad Education Prize.”

“We are very grateful to win this prize,” added Manuel Li, president of the Asociación Peruana de Química Cosmética in Lima, Peru. “The support from the IFSCC will permit us to offer our members three years of high-quality education we could not afford on our own. Also, we hope our outstanding programs will attract new members to our society. Many thanks to the IFSCC for choosing us.”

The last winner of the Lester Conrad Educational Prize was the Hong Kong Society of Cosmetic Chemists, awarded in 2012. The educational programs were held in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The following Lester Conrad Education Prize winner will be awarded in 2020.
