Aurora Cannabis and Evio Beauty Group have partnered to develop a line of both CBD-infused and hemp seed oil cosmetic products, according to a joint press release.

This partnership comes in the wake of the passing of Canada's Cannabis Act, which will legalize cannabis in the country as of October 17, 2018. Though Canada's Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist currently specifies that only hemp seed oil (not containing CBD) is allowed in cosmetic products, time will tell how the country's regulators will respond to the legislation.

Additionally, both Canadian brands place value on inclusivity and female empowerment within their organizations, with with Evio having participated in Sephora's Accelerate program.

"The cannabis industry is uniquely positioned to champion more women in leadership roles. ... By utilizing hemp seed oil and cannabis derivatives, we can enhance ingredient transparency, reducing the use of hurtful animal by-products and ecologically unsustainable inputs," said Brandi Leifso, CEO, Evio Beauty.

Aurora Cannabis' CEO, Terry Booth, also commented: "Through this partnership with Evio, Aurora further diversifies its rapidly growing offering across the cannabis value chain, while capturing a unique opportunity to bring the Aurora Standard to cannabis derived lifestyle and cosmetic products."
