BASF has announced an investment in its Mauldin, South Carolina operations to enable the production of pearlizers and opacifiers used in cosmetic products.
Start-up for the line is slated for the end of 2019. The added capacity will allow the company to meet the increasing demand for pearlizers and opacifiers, as well as improve supply reliability and reduce lead times in North America. It will also allow the manufacturing of additional specialty blends for the personal care market.
“With shortened cycles for product launches and changing demands due to the rise of e-commerce, our customers need a fast and flexible supply of personal care ingredients,” said Daniele Piergentili, vice president, BASF home and personal care, North America. “The investment in our Mauldin site will improve the supply performance of our personal care solutions portfolio.”
