Webby Awards Call for Entries

Since 1996, the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences has been awarding the most creative, interactive cosmetics and personal care brands’ Web site designs the prestigious Webby Award. From the academy, 550 judges, including such notables as Matt Groening (creator of “The Simpson’s”), Arianna Huffington and Harvey Weinstein, have determined the best international Web sites, online film, video and advertising campaigns, from more than 10,000 entries spanning 60 countries.

Deemed “the Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, the Webby Awards acknowledged The Lynx Effect (Australia) with the top award for Best Beauty and Cosmetics Web site in June 2008. Other nominees for the 12th annual awards ceremony included Clearasil (for its “May Cause Confidence” campaign), CoverGirl, L’Oréal Paris and Nivea.

“The beauty and cosmetics industry continuously raises the bar every year with ground-breaking sites,” says David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. “The Webby Awards is an exciting opportunity for industry leaders to have their work shine in the international spotlight.”

From September 23 to December 19, 2008, the 13th Annual Webby Awards will accept entries for the Best Beauty and Cosmetics Site of the Year category and other advertising and feature categories such as Best Navigation and Best Copy Writing. The early entry deadline is October 31, 2008. Nominees will be announced in April 2009, and winners will be honored at the gala ceremony in June 2009. In keeping with Webby tradition, all winners’ speeches will be limited to just five words.
