Croda Inc. Incorporates Solar Energy Into Edison Facility

Croda Inc., the North American corporate office of Croda International Plc, has upped its sustainable energy efforts with the installation of a 305 kW solar energy system at its facility in Edison, New Jersey, USA.

Although it is the first to be installed at any of Croda’s facilities, the solar system joins other sustainable initiatives at Croda including the wind turbine providing power for Croda’s manufacturing facility in Hull, UK.

The solar energy system is anticipated to provide more than 50% of the power required to run the Edison facility, which is roughly equivalent to powering 42 average sized homes, removing 47 equivalent autos from service or saving more than 27,500 gallons of gasoline each year.

“Croda is committed to being a responsible and ethical organization, and we have a global goal of obtaining 25% of our energy from non-fossil sources by the end of 2015,” commented Kevin Gallagher, president of Croda Inc. in a company press release.

Mercury Solar Systems engineered, designed and installed the system and EnterSolar of Newark, New Jersey, USA,  was the project developer.
