The Southwest chapter of the Society of Cosmetics (SWSCC) will focus on the fight against acne during its March meeting, which will take place March 11, 2010. Mike Davies, technical director of Essential Ingredients Inc., will deliver a presentation titled, "The Advantages of Using Micronized Benzoyl Peroxide in Acne Products."
According to Davies, the OTC acne treatment sales is one of the fastest growing segments in the skin care industry. Davies reports that many personal care manufacturers may not formulate with benzoyl peroxide in their anti-acne products due to safety concerns. However, he finds that there are now options of both safe and efficacious benzoyl peroxide for anti-acne formulations, including micronized benzoyl peroxide.
Davies has been involved in the personal care industry for more than 20 years. Before joining Essential Ingredients, he gained experience at Chattem Inc. and Amway Inc.
