Chemistry and Music Collide in the Midwest

MSCC

The November meeting of the Midwest Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists on Nov. 14, 2006 in Des Plaines, Ill., USA, featured both a presentation and awards ceremony. The guest speaker for the event was Bud Brewster, technical editor for Cosmetics&Toiletries. His topic was the connection between chemistry and music, by which he illustrated the lives of three individuals who were both chemists and composers. In his speech, Brewster incorporated an underlying inspirational message to each of those being awarded that evening that nearly anything was possible with an open mind.

The 2007 officer installation took place during the Midwest SCC's dinner meeting. Assuming the role of chair of the chapter was Bob Hindeman, the former vice-chair of the chapter. He stepped up to the role that was previously held by Chris Boone. Also announced at the dinner meeting were the six winners of the chapter's annual scholarship.
