Evonik Goldschmidt and Aqualon Collaborate on Personal Care Products

Two specialty chemical manufacturers have signed an agreement to bring utilitarian polymers to the forefront of the personal care industry. Aqualon, a division of Hercules Incorporated, and Evonik Goldschmidt GmbH will use their experience in polymer technologies and marketing, respectively, to produce and promote cellulosics—water soluble polymers used in cleansing formulations that thicken and form more stable and creamy foams.

Willy Klipp, senior vice president and general manager of personal care at Evonik Goldschmidt, supports the union not only for its potential in the global market, but for the promise it offers the companies to venture forth into new technical expertise.

“The addition of natural polymers strongly enhances our existing portfolio of silicones, organic specialties and active ingredients,” said Klipp.
