Croda Introduces Sensorial Ingredients for Skin, Hair and Sun

At in-cosmetics 2013, Croda will be introducing a host of sensorial ingredients across the skin, sun and hair care categories in addition to debuting new formulations for the Asian and Latin American markets.

For the past few years, Croda’s team have been focused on technology to deliver new sensations for the sun care market. To that end, the company will be introducing Solaveil ST-100, the first product to be launched under the family name Solaveil Sensation. Combining UV performance with enhanced aesthetics, this uniquely coated titanium dioxide dispersion enables the formulator to formulate light and luxurious UV protection products.

The company, will also be unveiling some new additions to its NatraGem range of high performance solubilisers and emulsifiers. NatraGem EW (INCI: Glyceryl Stearate (and) Polyglyceryl-6 Palmitate/Succinate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol) is a high performing emulsifier wax with excellent stabilization and thickening properties that is capable of creating formulations ranging from lotions to high viscosity creams, which are non-whitening on the skin and have excellent sensory benefits. This wax has an excellent electrolyte tolerance and  is compatible with a broad range of commonly used personal care actives.

Also added to the NatraGem range is NatraGem S150 (INCI: Polyglyceryl-4 Laurate/Sebacate (and) Polyglyceryl-4 Caprylate/Caprate (and) Water (aqua)), an effective and multifunctional solubilizer that is designed to combine lipophilic cosmetic actives with their carrier oils into clear formulations. With proven counter irritancy and cleansing benefits, this can work successfully on the most sensitive of skin types.

In the multifunctional category, the company will introduce ViscOptima SE (INCI: Sodium Polyacrylate (and) Ethyhexyl Cocoate (and) PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate (and) Polysorbate 20), a liquid rheology modifier that can be used to emulsify and stabilize high levels of oils and silicones within a formulation. Moreover, it is an efficient thickener that can create viscous creams at low inclusion levels that leave a smooth, silky, silicone-like feel to the skin.

The other multifunctional ingredient, an innovative quaternary polymer, is much more than just a styling agent. As well as delivering style retention benefits, studies have proven that MiruStyle MFP PE (INCI: Hydroxypropyl Trimonium Hydrolyzed Corn Starch (and) Water (aqua)) can significantly reduce unwanted frizz. Moreover, it offers curl retention benefits and minimizes static flyaway. Derived from corn starch, it is a natural minimal-frizz polymer that delivers truly multifunctional performance.

Two new formulation kits will also be launched at the show, including formulations specifically targeted at the Asian and Latin American consumer. The Asia Hot 10 Skin Care Special is a collection of formulations for the Asian consumer. From daily wear cosmetics offering moisturizing and whitening benefits to CC creams, this collection highlights the full outlook in Asian facial care as well revealing the Croda Group’s ingredient range and formulation expertise. The Latin America Essential Skin Care Hot 10 is an innovative series of formulations designed to meet local consumer needs and, simultaneously, provide the formulator and marketer the opportunity to create formulas satisfying attractive market trends within Latin America. Developed by a global team, this collection highlights Croda’s formulating expertise with a range of formulations from daily use BB cream to a post-shaving gel-cream for men.
