Givaudan Active Beauty has launched active cosmetic ingredient, PrimalHyal Gold (INCI: PEG-8 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides (and) Water (and) Octyldodeceth-25 (and) Sodium Hyaluronate), which is a new technological solution part of the company’s hyaluronic acid (HA) range.

This ingredient is produced by biofermentation—a sustainable manufacturing process—which allows to incorporate hydrated HA in oil-based formulas such as pressed powders, body oils, suncare oils, lipstick, lip glosses, mascaras, balms and any anhydrous formulas.

Skin is made up of 64% water content, which is constantly maintained in skin by means of specific macromolecules, primarily HA. The skin barrier and its HA content has a negative impact due to age, which can further lead to dehydration.

The company specializes in HA, bridging the gap between formulation needs for new oil soluble ingredients and active compounds. The ingredient is created with molecular weight HA (<50 kDa), which is integrated into a microemulsion. The ingredient increases by over 45% the amount of total water in lips and over 50% of free water, compared to the placebo, which loses efficacy after eight hours.

“Our PrimalHyal Gold is one of our latest innovation[s] in hyaluronic acid in which Givaudan has a huge legitimacy,” said Ophélie Bourgon, marketing and technical support manager, Givaudan Active Beauty. “It is a real revolution for formulators working on color cosmetics because it will enable them to create new range of products with esthetics and care benefits. It reflects also our deep willingness to offer to our clients a new innovative product to inspire them to craft the end-products of the future.”

PrimalHyal Gold stemmed from the same technological basis as Vegetan Gold (INCI: PEG-8 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides (and) Water (and) Dihydroxyacetone (and) Octyldodeceth-25), which is a recently launched, self-tanning ingredient holding the Sepawa 2016 Gold innovation award
