Provital Group has addressed cellulite with a blend of two botanicals. Provislim (INCI: Propanediol (and) Water (aqua) (and) Fisetin (and) Raspberry Ketone) combines fisetin, a flavonoid found in fruits such as strawberries as well as vegetables, with frambinone, a phenolic compound responsible for the aroma of fruits such raspberry. According to the company, the blend diminishes fat deposits during exercise, at rest and after eating.
Fisetin, derived from Pimpinella anisum (anise), reportedly inhibits the phosphorilation of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, which is a key enzyme for the influx of glucose into the cell. By inhibiting this enzyme, the flavonoid is said to diminish lipogenesis after eating. In addition, it reportedly fights cellulite by facilitating lipolysis and activating sirtuins, and it is said to impart anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits to skin.
Frambinone, derived from Buxus sinica (boxwood), is reported to increase basal lipolysis at rest and the expression of adiponectin, a protein of lipidic metabolism. According to the company, frambinone also raises lipolysis induced by catecholamines during exercise, potentiates fatty acid catabolism, and increases skin elasticity.
Through in vitro tests on human subcutaneous adipocytes, the company observed: a 57% increase in basal lipolysis, 36% enhancement of lipolysis induced by adrenalin, 96.3% lipogenisis reduction after eating, and 95% decrease of pre-adipocyte differentiation. In an in vivo test of 15 volunteers, the company applied 5% of the anti-cellulite active on one leg, and a placebo on the other, twice daily for 56 days. The company noted a decrease in skin thickness, reduction in average skin roughness, reduction in maximum roughness, and an improvement in elasticity.
The active is recommended at 2–5% in anti-cellulite and slimming products. It is also applicable as a complementary ingredient in hydrating, firming and sun-tanning products. The active is distributed in North America by Centerchem Inc.
