Sunscreen, Actives Stabilizer

The HallStar Company will showcase recent innovations for the photostability of skin care ingredients using its SolaStay S1 (INCI: Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene) photostabilizer, at booth 213. This product stabilizes sensitive ingredients and was originally developed to enable sunscreen formulators to meet and exceed the many international requirements for sun care, including the new rules set forth by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Whereas traditional photostabilizers quench the triplet-excited electron state to slow UV filter degradation, this technology acts faster to quench the singlet-excited electron state of materials such as avobenzone, alone or in combination with octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC), zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.

This company also will highlight product lines from its recent acquisitions, The B&T Company and BioChemica International.
