P&G Formulates for Men's Shaving Comfort

Men's care needs for a comfortable shave have been addressed by Procter & Gamble (P&G) latest launch: Gillette Fusion ProGlide brand razors and cartridges and the Gillette Fusion ProSeries shaving and skin care products. According to a company press release, despite advances in shaving technology, internal research has indicated that 65% of men experience discomfort during and after shaving, especially when the blades tug and pull hair, which causes unwanted side effects such as irritation.

Improving upon the existing razor, the company redesigned the cartridge with thinner, finer blade edges that reportedly glide through hair, reducing tug and pull. In addition, the blades are treated with a low-resistance coating and attached via a blade stabilizer that maintains blade spacing for comfort while allowing the blades to adjust to the contours of the face. In addition, a larger Lubrastrip infused with mineral oil and lubricating polymers is included, enabling the razor to move smoothly over the skin. Finally, a Microcomb is included to help guide hair to the blade.

In addition to these blade improvements, the company's ProSeries line of skin care products are designed to support comfort before, during and after the shave. The Thermal Scrub warms upon contact with water and incorporates a mild soap-free system that removes sebum and dirt while helping to soften the hair. Particles then help to exfoliate dead, dry skin cells to help create an even, clear path for the razor. The Sensitive Face Wash uses a soap-free system formulated with aloe to effectively clean without over-drying. The Intense Cooling Lotion cools and hydrates freshly shaved skin and a Dual-Cooling complex is used to extend the cooling effect without drying the skin and sealing in moisture. Finally, the Instant Hydration UV Moisturizer + SPF15 is a nongreasy moisturizer with vitamins E, B3 and B5 and SPF 15 UV Protection.
