Shampoos and Conditioners Work Innovation into Lather

Shampoos and conditioners are hitting the market with unique ingredients and benefits. The Mintel Global New Products Database (GNPD) presents the newest innovative shampoos and conditioners from around the globe.

The Japanese company Fancl has launched its new Amino Conditioner. This product helps to deeply moisturize hair, while offering protection against dryness and UV damage. It accomplishes this protection with a combination of Tahitian flower extract and botanical-source emollients that give the conditioner a refreshing citrus and herbal scent. Amino Conditioner claims to leave hair with just enough moisture to keep it smooth without becoming sticky. Made with no preservatives, antibacterial agents, petrol-source surfactants, fragrances or mineral oils, the product is pH-neutralized and packaged in a 200 g plastic bottle.

Recently released by Fafisco Produtos de Beleza, Soutyne Chocolate Hair Conditioner is leaving sweet smelling hair throughout Brazil. The conditioner has been formulated with chocolate, which is said to nourish and restore natural hair oiliness. The product reportedly promotes healthy capillary growth and is described as “nature in the hair.”

Another new release for Brazil is Anantha Healthy Soy Milk Lasting Liss Shampoo. The shampoo is said to be 100 percent vegetable, with a pH of 5.5 and a salt-free formulation with soy milk, sesame seed oil and honey extracts. This precise blend of ingredients is claimed to soften, hydrate and repair capillary fibers. Lasting Liss is recommended for relaxed or straightened hair.

With newly designed packaging to revitalize the product, Unilever releases Mod’s Hair Beer Conditioner in a 650ml package. True to its title, this product claims to contain natural beer extract and protein. This unique ingredient is said to make hair more manageable and also protect colored hair. For a quick wash before conditioning, they also have a corresponding Beer Shampoo available.

For recovery vs. revitalization, Palama-Iapa has released Erb Clear Away Detox Shampoo in Thailand. The shampoo contains green tea and ginger extract and works for all hair types. According to the manufacturer, the green tea works to detoxify hair while the ginger stimulates circulation and acts as an anti-oxidant. With these extracts, the customer can rejuvenate the hair and return it to its original glory.

Now available with a new formulation, Colgate-Palmolive presents Palmolive Gard Milk & Honey in Germany. This item now claims to make hair five times stronger. Milk & Honey is suitable for dry hair and contains natural milk proteins and honey extracts, which smoothly clean and revitalize hair for extra shine. The formulation is available in both shampoo and conditioner.

Reaching beyond the traditional limitations of shampoo and conditioner, L'Oréal presents Kids Super Squirt Extra Gentle 3-in-1 Hair and Body Shampoo to the US. The product, available in Burst of Red Raspberry and Burst of Cool Coconut, is used as a shampoo, conditioner and body wash for children with all hair and skin types. The pack features the slogan: "No Tears! No Knots! Soft Skin!" It claims to have a formula that cleanses gently and conditions both hair and skin. The 3-in-1 product is ophthalmologically and dermatologically tested. Striving for convenience, it gets kids clean from head to toe with just one product and is available in a 16 fl. oz. pack, shaped like a whale.
