Skin Brighteners Emerge in Antiaging

Wrinkles may be a thing of the past when considering antiaging treatments. Skin brighteners are the newest trend in antiaging products. The term "skin brightener" is not referring to age spot removers, which have been on the market for awhile, but rather to products formulated to brighten skin. Skin brighteners reportedly are the fastest growing product category at prestige cosmetic counters in all age brackets. To answer the quesion of why brightening products are growing so rapidly medical experts from Bremenn Research Labs have divulged what makes its products different.

According to Nathalie Chevreaux, Ph.D., R.D., director of women's health at Basic Research, skin loses its warm glow as people age, and the warm glow is replaced with brown, splotchy skin. "This change in skin tone and color can occur in all ethnic groups. Unfortunately, no injection, scalpel or filler can bring back the radiant glow of youth. That's why facial brighteners are becomming so important," added Chevreaux.

To brighten the skin, skin brightening formulators have focused on light waves, color frequencies and how light is reflected. "Unlike simple 'age spot' removers, new-generation facial brighteners are designed to be used over the entire face, and actually restore the color of your skin's appearance. They make you look younger by increasing your skin's brightness scale and amplifying full-spectrum reflectivity, luminescence and clarity," said Richard Wells, Ph.D., director of scientific affairs for Bremenn Research Labs.

Facial brighteners allow women to use less makeup and concealer, according to statements made by Bremenn's representatives. The reps also added that women who used the brighteners saw younger, brighter skin in a short amount of time. Lumedia Facial Brightener reportedly is Bremenn's best selling facial brightener. It brightens skin by reducing melanin concentration and inhibiting tyrosinase activity. The product is formulated with: water (aqua), polyvinyl alcohol crosspolymer, caprylic/capric triglyceride, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, glycerin, saccharomyces/xylinum black tea ferment, cyclomethicone, Phyllanthus emblica fruit extract, stearyl alcohol, petrolatum, cetearyl alcohol, diacetyl boldine, Oryza sativa (rice) bran extract, dimethiconol, dimethyl acrylamide/acrylic acid/polystyrene/ethyl methacrylate copolymer, hydroxyethylcellulose, behentrimonium methosulfate, ceteareth-20, polydodecanamideaminium triazadiphenylethenesulfonate, phenoxyethanol, methylisothiazolinone, methylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, isobutylparaben, isopropylparaben, fragrance (parfum).

The evolution of cosmeceuticals is seen through Lumedia, as the product no longer contains the controversial ingredient hydroquinone. Although skin brighteners such as Lumedia are today's newest products in antiaging, there will undoubtedly be more to come.  As to the future of antiaging products, it is anyones guess.
