SILAB Introduces Reconstructed Skin Models

silabskin_CT_image

Working to develop, validate and culture human cells in three dimensions (3D), SILAB Research has created SILABSKIN multi-layer in vitro models. These 3D reconstructed epidermises or skins help to prove the efficacy of the natural cosmetic actives sold through the company.

SILAB approach to developing the substrates required three key considerations:

  • Traceability of the biological material,
  • Internal control of skills and methods, and
  • Quality and reproducibility of the models.

The method uses standardized protocols and appropriate environments, combined with equipment and high-tech analyses such as transcriptomics.

Using these techniques, the 3D models are used to test new cosmetic actives under various conditions, imitating biological realities such as aging, nutrition deficiency, inflammation and so forth.
