Disclosed in this patent is a moisturizing antimicrobial composition including benzethonium chloride or benzalkonium chloride, a non-benzyl cationic surfactant, and an aqueous carrier. The composition provides a significant and unexpected reduction of irritation, inflammation, dryness and/or redness, all issues associated with known alcohol-based skin disinfectants. In particular, the present invention provides a stable, aesthetically-pleasing, long-lasting and moisturizing composition that is substantially free of ethanol, polysorbates and anionic compounds known to inhibit the activity of benzethonium chloride or benzalkonium chloride.

Provided here is a disposable paper towel with an antimicrobial lotion and a chromatic transfer indicator that undergoes a delayed, visually perceiveable color change at a predetermined time after the towel is wetted.
