Disclosed in this patent application is an o/w emulsion thickened with a hydrophobically modified polyether urethane. This composition has improved high-temperature stability and gives a unique, pudding-like feeling.

The elastic jelly emulsion includes oil droplets having an average particle diameter of 150 nm or smaller. The composition is transparent or translucent, has excellent viscosity stability at high temperatures, and is suitable for use as a cosmetic-preparation bases.

The hydrophobically modified polyether urethane is especially preferably a PEG-240/decyltetradeceth-20/HDI copolymer.
