Disclosed in this patent is a photoprotective composition that can be utilized for a variety of cosmetic compositions. The composition includes one or more photoactive agents chosen from p-aminobenzoic acid and derivatives thereof, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, benzophenones, octisalate, titanium dioxide and several others (see patent for full listing), at least one aliphatic hydrocarbon and at least one ester.
The resulting composition is substantially non-whitening and non-irritating. It can be anhydrous, single-phase, water-resistant and provide any combination of these characteristics without additional ingredients required. In liquid form, it is easily and consistently dispensed from a bottle, pump or spray.
