Novel derivatives of benzyl benzoate for lasting deodorant activity
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/162392
Publication date: Oct. 29, 2015
Assignee: Robertet S.A.

This invention describes the use of benzyl benzoate derivatives as antibacterial actives to fight against malodor.

In particular, 4-benzyl benzoyloxybenzoate is used in preparations for deodorant compositions. According to the inventors, while prior art describes a synthetic route for preparing benzyl-4-(benzoyloxy-l, 4- benzoyloxy) benzoate, no property is assigned to this compound.

Also, in recent years, besides the "intrinsic" effectiveness of deodorant compositions, emphasis has been placed on the duration of deodorant actives to prevent the occurrence malodor. It has been found that these benzyl benzoates not only have an "intrinsic" efficiency equivalent to those of existing active deodorants, but improved duration of action compared to the same assets.
