The present disclosure relates to a process for treating keratin fibers artificially dyed by direct dyeing or by oxidation dyeing, such as human hair, which comprises the application to the keratin fibers of a composition not containing any oxidation dye or any oxidizing agent and comprising at least one protective agent with a log P of less than or equal to 6, and then the application to the fibers of a liquid water/steam mixture at a temperature of at least 35° C. The present disclosure also relates to the use of the process for protecting keratin fibers artificially dyed by direct dyeing or by oxidation dyeing, such as human hair, against the action of atmospheric agents, such as against the action of light.

A hair dye composition is provided that comprises a first agent containing an oxidation dye and an alkaline agent, and a second agent containing hydrogen peroxide, the hair dye composition being used after mixing the first agent and the second agent. The hair dye composition contains 1.0 to 5.0% w/w of an ascorbic acid compound and 0.3 to 1.6% hydrogen peroxide. The alkaline agent is contained in an amount of from 3.0 to 30 mmol per 100 g of the hair dye composition.

Cosmetic compositions comprising a polymer and a colorant

The disclosed cosmetic composition, suitable for use on mammalian skin, hair and nails, contain a polymer and a colorant. The polymer of the composition mitigates staining caused by the colorant, and the polymer and colorant are opposite in charge. The present invention is also directed to methods of mitigating skin staining through using the cosmetic compositions.
