Malaysian Cosmetic Companies Encouraged by Trade Missions

Local cosmetic and beauty companies in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are encouraged to assist with trade missions to help them in export their products, according to a report by Bernama.com. This year, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp. (Matrade) reportedly will organize trade missions to the Natural Products Expo in Japan, Sept. 21-23, 2006, and the Vietnam International Trade Expo, Dec. 14-18, 2006.

According to the report, these two events are expected to showcase and promote natural and herbal products by local companies. Last year, Malaysia exported an increased number of cosmetic, perfume and beauty products, up 15.1% from 2004. From the total, 29.7% of the exports reportedly went to Singapore, 14.9 % to Hong Kong and 7.9% to Thailand. Currently, a reported 37 companies are operating in the cosmetic and beauty products field.
