Disclosed are compositions and methods preferably aimed at treating, preventing, ameliorating, reducing and/or eliminating fine lines and/or wrinkles of skin. The compositions include active agents that increase expression levels of genes associated with the dermatological signs of aging. The active agent is S-methyl-L-cysteine and S-phenyl-L-cysteine. This agent ameliorates, reduces, or treats progressive degradation of the dermal-epidermal junction and/or degradation of the cell-cell cohesion in skin.

Disclosed is a cosmetic composition that includes a high level of glycerin, a copolymer which is preferably a C10-C18 acrylates crosspolymer, and a crystalline gel structurant comprising a surfactant and cosurfactant. The structurant will have an enthalpy in the range of approximately 2 to 15 Joule per gram. The composition has a normal force in the range of +5 to +50 grams, thereby achieving a silky sensory feel on skin. The glycerin:copolymer is present in a weight ratio ranging from about 350:1 to about 10:1. Advantageously, the composition has a SkiCon Value ranging from about 10 to about 80.

Cosmetic composition comprising a polymer blend
The use of a polymer containing a specific hetero atom in a composition comprising particles of a film-forming polymer dispersed in the medium of the composition makes it possible to improve the adhesion properties of the composition on keratin materials, especially on keratin fibers such as the eyelashes. The composition is easy to apply to the keratin materials and allows the composition to be deposited quickly in an amount that is sufficient to obtain a makeup effect with the expected cosmetic properties. In particular, a thick deposit of the makeup on the keratin materials is quickly obtained. Thus, the formulator can prepare a mascara that quickly thickens the eyelashes, achieving instantaneous loading of the eyelashes. The mascara also gives good lengthening to the made-up eyelashes.

Film-forming and cosmetic compositions containing a combination of certain polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) and non-POSS silicone resins are described. The combination provides improved wear and/or pliability properties over previous silicone resin-containing compositions. Typically, the advantageous combinations will be formulated in a cosmetic composition that contains at least one solvent, and, preferably, a colorant, such as a pigment. Among the suggested finished product applications are foundations, mascaras, lip coatings (lip stick, lip gloss, lip pencil and the like) and nail coatings and the like.
