AkzoNobel Names Hair Care Project Leader

Ra’eda Asad will join the global personal care business of AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry as hair care project leader. In her new position Asad will lead the formulation and evaluation of personal care surfactant systems including shampoos, conditioners and other hair cleansing products. She will also be responsible for providing solutions and troubleshooting assistance to support current product lines and customer formulas.

Asad joins AkzoNobel from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company (J&J), where, as pricipal scientist, she optimized product reformulations to improve performance, robustness and consumer-perceptible attributes while reducing cost. Prior to J&J, Asad also served as senior chemist at Huntsman LLC, where she led the company’s research on Sugar Structured Surfactant Systems (S4).

Asad is an active member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. She holds several patents on advances in surfactant, sulfonate and detergent technologies, and has published a number of scientific papers on innovative uses of surfactants, sulfonates and other ingredients for household cleaning, laundry and personal care applications.
