Ciba Makes Executive Changes

Armin Meyer, chairman of the board and CEO of Ciba Specialty Chemicals has decided to dissolve the double mandate as of January 1, 2008. As a result, the company has made some executive changes. Current COO Brendan Cummins has been appointed to CEO of the company.

Also, Kurt Feller, vice chairman of the company's Board of Directors, will retire on March 8, 2007, at the Annual General Meeting.  The company reportedly will elect Beat Hess, current group legal director of Royal Dutch Shell and member of the Board of Directors, to vice-chairman of the board at the annual meeting.

At the meeting, the board will propose the election of Utz-Hellmuth Felcht, PhD, as a nonexecutive director to the board. According to the company, Felcht is an independent business consultant with broad experience in the chemical industry, most recently as CEO of Degussa AG.
