Unilever has announced that Michael Treschow will succeed Antony Burgmans as chairman of Unilever NV and Unilever PLC. Treschow is currently the chairman of Ericsson and Electrolux and the director of ABB Group. He will take the place of Burgmans, who is retiring from Unilever after 35 years of service. Burgmans joined the board in 1991 and was appointed as executive chairman in 1999. He was then appointed the first non-executive chairman of both parent companies in 2005. Treschow will step into his new role in May 2007.
