John Demsey, global brand president, Estée Lauder and M•A•C, appointed Andrea Robinson as president of Tom Ford Beauty and Prescriptives Worldwide. Robinson will assume her new role March 1, 2006.
“Andrea has done such a brilliant job,” said Demsey, in a press statement. “It is a natural progression that she should lead the Tom Ford Beauty brand. Importantly, we also want to bring her talents as a very savvy, innovative marketer with an editorial point of view to Prescriptives to drive it to the next level.” Robinson was most recently the chief marketing officer for the Estée Lauder brand. At Prescriptives, Robinson will be replacing Lynne Greene, recently named president, Clinique Worldwide.
Additionally, Joseph Gubernick has been named to chief marketing officer, Estée Lauder. Gubernick will lead global marketing for the Estée Lauder brand skin care, makeup and fragrance worldwide. He also will assume his role March 1.
“[Gubernick’s] knowledge of the cosmetics industry and the Estée Lauder companies is unsurpassed,” said Demsey, in a press statement. “His role in establishing the corporation as a leader in cosmetics science, technology and innovation makes him uniquely qualified.” Gubernick joined the company from Revlon in 1972 as senior vice president of R&D. He held that position until 1985, when he focused on creating the Origins brand, which launched in 1990. In 1991, Gubernick re-joined R&D until 2000, when he assumed responsibility for the corporate product innovation group.
Related to these personnel appointments, Harvey Gedeon, executive vice president of R&D, the Estée Lauder Companies, will expand his current role by assuming responsibility for the corporate product innovation group previously headed by Gubernick.
