Lonza Names COO of Microbial Control

Jeanne Thoma has been appointed by Lonza Group Ltd. to chief operating officer of Lonza’s Microbial Control (LMC) sector, which will be created following the acquisition of Arch Chemicals.

Thoma reportedly will shape the organizational structure of LMC by proposing and appointing its first tier leadership team and driving the preparations for the integration of both organizations from a business perspective. She will be based in Basel, Switzerland.

Thoma brings more than 20 years of global business experience to her new position. She joined Lonza in 2004. Since 2007, she has served as the global head of microbial control and president of Lonza Inc.

Prior to joining Lonza, Jeanne spent 15 years at BASF Corp. in various leadership positions in sales, marketing, logistics and supply chain.

She will assume the role upon the successful closing of the acquisition and at this time will also become a member of Lonza's management committee. The acquisition is currently under review by the regulatory authorities and is subject to their approval. The deal is expected to close later in 2011.
