Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc. (J&J) has awarded a US $50,000 grant to R. Rivkah Isseroff, PhD, MD, a professor of dermatology at the University of California, as part of its Active Naturals Research Award.
The grant is awarded to an individual to promote research within the field of natural ingredients in dermatology. According to the company, all applications were reviewed by the scientific committee and evaluated using the nine-point scale National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant application scoring system.
Isseroff and his colleague Raja Sivamani, PhD, a resident in dermatology, will study the efficacy of natural products on epidermal cell migration and compare the role of natural products on in vivo human epidermal barrier recovery.
In 2011, the Active Naturals Institute will be offering two US $30,000 grants, expanding the scope of this important area of research in dermatology. Applications are available at www.activenaturalsinstitute.com.
