Galaxy Surfactants Ltd., a supplier of performance products for home and personal care based in Navi Mumbai, India, has acquired Tri-K Industries Inc. The transaction, which was completed on July 1, 2009, includes Maybrook Inc. Galaxy Surfactants is now the majority owner of Tri-K Industries Inc., with Dr. Gerd Dahms & Associates holding a minority share.
Galaxy Surfactants has also acquired a majority shareholding in Oberhausen Technology Center, an R&D facility for personal care products based in Oberhausen, Germany.
“The specialty chemicals strategy of Galaxy is focused on the priority markets of Europe and the Americas. This acquisition strengthens Galaxy’s global presence and gives us an expanded product portfolio, allowing us to better serve use customers in the cosmetics and personal care industry. The combination of Tri-K's specialty actives portfolio, Galaxy’s line of products and Oberhausen Technology Center’s expertise will be a potent combination to address our customers’ aspirations for skin, oral and hair care,” says Geera Ramakrishnan, director of home and personal care for Galaxy Surfactants, in a company press release.
Financial terms of the sale were not announced. With this acquisition, Galaxy’s R&D and technical services will be located in India, Germany and the United States.
