IPBC Approved in Japan
Posted: June 26, 2006
The Japanese Ministery of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has approved Lonza's fungicide Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate (IPBC) for use in cosmetic and personal care products under Pharmaceutical and Food Safety Bureau Notification No. 0524001.
The usage level of IPBC for lip care, oral care and baby care products in both rinse-off and leave-on products is .02%. The approval is expected by the company to have a global impact, allowing it more opportunities to formulate with the preservative line. Lonza supplies the IPBC products under the Glycacil trade name.
