PCPC Requests Comments on Microorganism Guideline

Posted: July 13, 2012

The Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) is requesting public comments on its revised guidelines on the identification of dangerous microorganisms in personal care raw materials and finished products. The document, “M-2 Examination for and Identification of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans” updates the method that was published in 2007 to include the identification of C. albicans.

The draft guidelines outline suitable methods for identifying the microorganisms listed in the title, and is intended to serve as a resource for manufacturers in their microbiological testing programs. Comments should be submitted by e-mail to John Krowka by Aug. 17, 2012.
