Clariant Begins Building Innovation Center in Frankfurt

Clariant announced plans to build a facility in the Höchst district of Frankfurt, Germany that will provide nearly 500 research jobs. The Clariant Innovation Center will be built during the next several months and is budgeted to cost nearly € 100 million.

Clariant’s global research activities will be centered in Höchst, which was selected based on its access to universities, proximity near an industry park, location near business partners and availability of a transportation network.

The 36,000 m2 (approximately 387,000-square-foot) office and laboratory facility was designed by the HPP architectural firm with an open concept for an office and laboratory building. This approach is meant to enhance chemical R&D of application-specific laboratories and technical marketing functions for different business units. In addition to analytics, the new facility will be the location of the new business development and intellectual property management units as well as the patent department. An objective of bringing together different disciplines is to enhance Clariant’s R&D pipeline and further improve the company’s innovation capabilities.
