Univar Acquires Basic Chemical and Adds President/COO

Univar Inc. has completed the acquisition of Basic Chemical Solutions LLC. Concurrent with the close of the acquisition, Mark Byrne, president and CEO of Basic Chemical, was appointed as executive vice president and COO of Univar.

According to Univar, the acquisition will expand its product portfolio with widely used products and an integrated distribution model, combining bulk and mini-bulk chemical distribution, as well as extend its global distribution network and industry expertise in a variety of markets.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
