Mintel Looks at Cross Categories at C&T Summit

Mintel Beauty & Personal Care has identified a key trend impacting beauty consumers in 2014: the blurring of categories and technology, which it refers to as Mixologiste. Combining the most exciting technologies and marketing from multiple categories, manufacturers are creating new claim combinations for products. Mohamed Omer, global hair care and oral hygiene analyst from Mintel, will discuss this trend in his presentation, “Mixologiste: Innovation Crosses Categories,” on Thursday, June 26, at the Cosmetics & Toiletries Summit. Here, he will review how the crossing of categories has led to the Mixologiste macrotrend, in relation to hair and skin care, anti-aging actives, and products addressing scalp care and hair growth.

The Cosmetics & Toiletries Summit was created for cosmetic scientists, including chemists, formulators, product developers, R&D managers and researchers. The event features academic level, award-winning speakers who were chosen to present forward-thinking science and theory relatable to cosmetics R&D. The sessions will range from insights encompassing all product categories, to specific sun/skin and hair related tracks, to ensure the content is relevant and applicable.
